Hey guys, Katherine here! It was good to see all the old and new faces at Coffeetalk this morning. We had a good talk about the story of the Samaritan woman at the well in the Gospel of John, and how it is relevant to our lives today, what modern-day "Samaritans" in our society we need to be reaching out to as Jesus did. Thanks to everyone for all the great input! Next week we will mull over another story out of John... which one has yet to be decided. :) Beth will be in London for the next 2 weeks... have a great trip, Beth!
This upcoming Wednesday the GPS (Grow, Pray, Serve) classes are starting up again! There are several classes that look good... dinner is at 5:30 PM as usual, $3 per person, meet up at the tables reserved for us near the entrance. Classes start at 6:30, and you can check out what classes are being offered.
In the next few weeks, please consider bringing in a bag (or two, or six...) of candy for our Trunk N Treat car! Christie has generously offered to let us use her car for the event... thanks Christie! I got decorations and a small table from Beth today, so we're going to go all out with it. If everyone brings one or two bags, we should have plenty of candy to give to the kids. Trunk N Treat will be on October 30th from 5-8 PM, out on the circle drive near the youth building. Dressing up is not required but would be awesome!
Upcoming Events:
- October 22nd - NAMI Stomp Out Stigma Walk - On Saturday the 22nd the annual National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Stomp Out Stigma walk is being held at Westside Park, and I'm trying to get a group of people together to walk in it! It's a short walk, only 1.2 miles, and for a $10 registration fee you get a t-shirt and get to help out a great cause. Registration begins at 9 AM, the walk starts at 10. Hope to see you there!
- October 23rd - The Great Race @ 9:40 - Next Sunday during the 9:40 service the 4th and 5th graders will be participating in The Great Race, and the 20-Somethings have agreed to sit at one of the tables at the event to help out! Unless I send out another email indicating otherwise, let's all plan on meeting at the youth office (by the big fish tanks downstairs) around 9:25-9:30 so we can ask them where they want us stationed. It will be a lot of fun (and you don't have to do any actual racing yourself), hope to see you there! And as a bonus, at the 11 o'clock service our very own Tyler Glockmann will be officially joining the church, so anyone who wants to support him can come to that service. We'll meet outside the church right before the service so we can sit together.
- October 30th - Trunk N Treat - We have a car registered for this event, so come on out (and even if you can't come, please consider donating some candy!) to decorate the car, dress up, and have a great time handing out candy to the kids! The event is from 5-8 PM, we will meet a little beforehand to park and decorate Christie's car.
- November 6th - IHN Dinner - I checked it out on the Trinity calendar to be sure, and yes, IHN is coming back to Trinity starting on November 6th. Since we have traditionally always served them dinner on their first night at our church, I assume that the usual group (and hopefully some new faces too!) will be up to serving again! Look for the Facebook event, coming soon. :)
- November 18th - Trinity Camp-Out - Trinity's Sports program is hosting a camp-out on the church campus on Friday, November 18th! There will be field games, a nature walk, bonfire, devotionals, etc. so bring your sleeping bag and get ready for a night under the stars. The cost is $10 to cover your dinner and breakfast, as it gets closer to the date we will figure out who has a tent we can borrow for the event. (Note: If you have a tent we can use, please let me know!)
That's all for now, hope to see you guys on Wednesday and/or Sunday!
Best,
Katherine |
