Purpose
The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
Membership
UMW is open to all the women of Trinity. Our primary focus is Mission, both to support Mission Projects and to study about Missions. We encourage all Trinity women to join us!
General Meeting
The General Meeting (room E211) and Leadership Team (room E222) of the UMW are held on the fourth Tuesday of the month at the Church.
Circles
Circles generally meet on the second Tuesday of the month in members' homes or at the Church. Faith meets at 9:30 a.m. and the other circles meet at 10:00 a.m. Dates and locations are listed in the UMW yearbook, the monthly church newsletter, "The Word", and in the Sunday bulletin.
UMW Reading Program
Books from the UMW's reading list are available for members to check out in the Church Library on Sunday mornings and at General Meetings. The purpose of the Reading Program of the UMW is "to become informed, to understand, and to be motivated to be obedient for participation in God's mission today" and "to become aware of who one is and what one can do through self-understanding." Credits are received for books read from our reading list.
Mission Studies
In order to expand concepts of Mission, the Women's Division of the Board of Global Ministries publishes three studies per year. These are taught at the Florida Conference School of Christian Mission in July and then are offered to the local UMW during the year. The three studies cover: 1) Personal Development [Bible Study]; 2) Global Concerns; and 3) Social Issues. The School of Christian Mission is open to ALL WOMEN.
