About the Food Services Ministry
  • At the Trinity United Methodist Church,  the Food Service Ministries purpose is to use the vehicle of food to feed the Kingdom by providing excellence in quality and service to all we serve, to demonstrate Christian service according to Colossians 3:23 — "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men" — and to represent the example of Christ to team members and volunteers.

Kelly KingKelly E. King
Director of Food Services

Chef Kelly King, Trinity's Food Service Director, is a graduate of the California Culinary Academy/Le Cordon Bleu in San Francisco, California.  After graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Culinary Arts, she moved to Maui, Hawaii where she worked for five years for Chef Roy Yamaguchi.  (Chef Yamaguchi is credited with the creation of Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine.)  During her employment at Roy’s the restaurant concept was purchased by Outback Steakhouse’s fine dining division.  Kelly jumped on the opportunity to move back to Florida and helped open four of their Florida and Georgia locations.  Missing her family and friends led this Gainesville native to move back home in 2001.  She opened  “A Touch Above Catering” and ran it successfully for two years before selling it to move on to the next phase of her career.  In 2003 she took the Food Service Director position at Trinity United Methodist Church. It was a natural fit for Kelly --she grew up in church kitchens.  Her mother helped start the Wednesday night program at her childhood church and her aunt has long served as the Hospitality Coordinator for her church.  Kelly truly believes that all of her culinary paths led her to this job.  And that God blessed her with the opportunity to serve at Trinity in such a wonderful facility with such amazing people.   Kelly is married and has a daughter.
