This Week's Assignment, etc.
Relating with Money is about the importance of working together in relationships and how we handle money.

Can you "relate?" You don't have a choice! How you manage your money (or how it manages you!) affects your personal relationships, especially those with your closest family members. This is another good lesson to review on audio tape.

This Week's Homework:

  1. Read Chapters 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18 (!!!) in Financial Peace Revisited
  2. IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE SO, complete Sheet 5, the monthly cash flow plan. Also, if you get more than one paycheck per month, transfer the numbers from your completed Cash Flow Plan to the Allocated Spending Plan (Sheet 7).
  3. Start tracking your actual expenses for this month (March) and update your budget accordingly. At this stage of the game it's good to check up on how you're doing at LEAST once a week so you have time to make adjustments before the end of the month.
  4. Complete the Financial Snapshot that is in your workbook (or the photocopy handed out at this week's class.) This form will help us track our progress as we work through the program.
  5. Start working on your April budget. Bring it to class next week so we can address questions and problems!

The hard part is over (hopefully!) and you've got a budget to actually work and improve! Don't forget to hold a "Budget Committee Meeting" when big changes happen to your budget (and they will!) Consider, too, how you want your kids to learn from your example, and how they, too, can be smart(er) about saving, spending, and giving.
