Disciple is a program of disciplined Bible study aimed a developing strong Christian leaders. It focuses on the disciple as learner, believer, follower, proclaimer, and servant while providing the fellowship of a small group for study, prayer, preparation, support and servanthood. I - Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study: This is a 34 week study of the Old and New Testaments during which participants will read and study all or part of almost every book in the Bible. This class is appropriate for both beginners and longtime students of the Bible. Courses will be offered on Tuesday afternoons, Tuesday nights, and Thursday mornings beginning September 8. Cost $34.
Disciple II - Into the World Into the World: This 32 week study selects specific portions of scripture from the Old and New Testament concentrating on four books: Genesis, Exodus, Luke, and Acts (eight lessons on each book). Appropriate connections are made to other parts of scripture both through reading and study assignments and through commentary in the study manual. Prerequisite: Disciple I. Cost $34.
Disciple III - Remember Who You Are: This 32 week study concentrates on the Old Testament prophets and the letters of Paul. The prophets and Paul are continually calling hearers and readers back to their God and to a sense of who they are as a people "set apart." The prophets spoke for God, out of the community, and to the community. Paul's experience of the risen Lord, his relationship to the community he addressed, his Jewish traditions, and the Greco-Roman culture of his day merged in his writing of the letters. Prerequisite: Disciple I. Cost $34.
Christian Believer: This 30 week study of the classical doctrines of the Christian faith presents, explains, and interprets Christian doctrine as the basic teaching of the church. It emphasizes the relationship of worship, belief, and daily life. The beliefs taught within the Christian community equip the Christian community for living faithfully and for passing on the faith entrusted to it. Prerequisite: Disciple I. This course will be offered on Tuesday nights beginning September 8. Cost $40.
